Lanarkshire and Lothian Soaring Club (LLSC) has been in existence since 1975 and promotes safe flying for paragliders and hangliders in Scotland, and in particular around Glasgow and Edinburgh. Safety comes with experience, and all pilots are encouraged to improve their skills and knowledge through regular club activities including training and coaching sessions.

In addition to this site, which holds our calendar and useful information, the club hosts a national forum on google groups for all Scottish pilots and those interested in free flying in Scotland.

Flying in Scotland

Scotland is a beautiful country to fly in with surprisingly many different options for such a small area. The current Scottish distance record for a paraglider is 154km. As a whole, there are very few airspace restrictions across the country, with the exception of the Central Belt between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Please ensure you are fully aware of any agreements and potential restrictions in force before you fly.

Club Structure

LLSC is an active member in the Scottish Hangliding and Paragliding Federation (SHPF) and is a Brittish Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) affiliated club.

What's happened to the website? The hosting has been updated to allow the website to be managed easier and to be kept up to date. The website now includes an interactive calendar, club member (pilot) profiles and user uploaded photos. Most of the content of the original website has now moved to the Pages section of this website, anything else can be accessed here.

I am interested in learning to fly? Once you are a qualified pilot you will be able to fly with the club. Please see our Learning to fly page.

I'm now a qualified pilot (CP) and want to be part of the club? Please go to our New Members page.

I'm a member of another club and visiting the area? Please feel free to join this site and take part in calendar events. You should also join the google groups list, post a personal introduction, and see what short notice flying is being arranged day to day. Please check our sites guide for up to date information on the sites we fly, especially during the lambing season (Mar-May). We are a friendly bunch and appreciate visitors who are respectful of our sites.

I'd like to contact the club with a query? Please see our contacts page and send an email to the relevant email address.
