Brief Site Description: Meall nan Tarmachan is a big site offering plenty of adventures for those willing to jump from coire to coire. This is often possible even in the absence of thermals...
How to get there: From Killin take the A827 eastbound and turn N after approx 8k onto the minor road leading up between Ben Lawers and Meall nan Tarmachan.
Restricted Areas: unknown
Parking Notes: Park off the road about 1k up from the visitor centre at the start of the hillwalker's path up the mountain (or at the dam if you are going up the steep way).
Landowners: unknown
RAF Ref. Unknown
Launch Notes: Hang-gliders: apparently this site is no longer flown by HG because the bottom landing has been planted with trees.
Paragliders: There are two ways up. The hill walkers path (longer/gentler) and the steeper direct straight up from the dam. Maybe the direct is worth it when it is pure S as this allows you to TO near the cliff above the dam....
XC Tips: If you can get to the top of the TO spur then you can usually cross to the W to the side of the next coire and gain height there... Keep coire jumping and its possible to get right to the top of Glen Lochay even with very little in the way of thermals. Nobody has got past Ben Challum yet but a cup of tea in Tyndrum just on the other side of the hill awaits.... Site record: PG 17k? HG ?
Top Landing Notes: unknown
Bottom Landing Notes: Hang-gliders: unknown.

Hazards: Winter high pressure days with a strong inversion can cause very strong compression high at the back of the coires - paragliders beware!
Special Rules: None.
